Who We Are
Off Script started in the summer of 2023. Through camaraderie and community, we aim to demystify the industry we love.

Jessica (she/her) is a Development Executive and Executive Producer working for a public film fund. She previously worked as a Head of Development and Development Executive across UK independent production companies. Her experience in the industry spans film and television productions, the commercial sector (such as Channel 4 Drama commissioning), and as a Script Consultant for SVODs. Jessica started her career at Film4, working on projects including Ben Wheatley’s A FIELD IN ENGLAND. She produced a short film, BOG, the writing and directorial debut of a BIFA-nominated producer; the film screened at both domestic and international festivals. Jessica has been a mentor for The Writers Lab UK & Ireland, a judge for BFI Film Academy and Chapter’s Micro-Shorts Grants, and most recently a panel member for the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Showcase: Film.

Abi is a former development executive, former journalist, who now writes for TV. Her script CUTTING CLASS was on the Brit List and she’s represented by Curtis Brown

"I'm so impressed with how warm & open the guests have been both times. You've created a really easy-going environment for meeting other creatives."
Caroline Maybe,
Writer
"The audience is the right balance of early-to-mid career professionals eager to connect, catch-up and gossip about the industry. I started going along with no connections, trying to break into development. I now go along as a development assistant. It works!"
Jasper Cresdee-Hyde,
Development Assistant
"I really value Off Script's focus on craft - everyone is there to explore ideas rather than to show off! The intimate venue means it's perfect for connecting with like-minded people over a drink - a far cry from the awkward posturing at some 'networking' events!"
Bella Heesom,
Writer
"Off Script is a really brilliant and generous initiative encouraging community and collaboration. I would massively recommend it to anyone interested in knowing more about storytelling. I’ve learnt some really useful things from the sessions - and met some wonderful people along the way! "
Jodie Brown,
Writer & Script Executive
"I’m hating this website. This means this stupidly generous, genuinely human and exceptionally rare initiative is out in the open. I do not endorse."
Asmara Gabrielle,
Writer & Actor
"The Off-Script events are fantastic opportunities to get into the craft of screenwriting without the pretence of 'This is Networking'. I've met writers who weren't previously on my radar and whom I'd happily consider developing with and/or recommending for projects. That rare chance to have a chat rather than a 'general' is invaluable for making genuine connections"
